Amplexidiscus fenestrafer (Common)

Amplexidiscus fenestrafer, commonly known as the Elephant Ear Mushroom, is a large corallimorph prized for its impressive size and broad, fleshy disc. Its surface is covered with small bumps and can display shades of green, brown, tan, blue, often with fluorescent highlights under actinic lighting. As it grows, the disc can expand dramatically, creating gentle movement and becoming a striking focal point in the aquarium. Large specimens are capable of trapping small fish and invertebrates, earning this coral its reputation as a natural predator. Amplexidiscus fenestrafer is generally hardy and adaptable, making it a popular choice for reefkeepers seeking a unique and dramatic display coral.

Care in Aquariums:
• Lighting: Low to moderate
• Flow: Gentle to moderate, indirect
• Placement: Sandbed or lower rockwork; provide ample space for expansion
• Feeding: Benefits from occasional meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, krill, or finely chopped seafood
